Artronic Works
Early computer systems were limited to 256 (8 bit) color. These works span the period of flat colors to the introduction of limited gradients, and they pre-date affordable scanning and digital photography, so all elements were hand-drawn into the computer using an early stylus.
Paintings
These paintings overlap the early digital works. At the time of the first computer works, stenciling, borders, and repetition were already a significant part of the imagery, and so the paintings and the digital works developed in tandem.
Digital Collage
A series of images combining digital painting processes with photographic image fragments recalling places of heritage and history. In these works, we are invited to enter a space, and imagine the thoughts of those who inhabited them in another era.
Manuscript Collage
This series of Manuscript Collages produced in 1979 - 1980 pre-dates my involvement with computers, however the conceptual link is clear. The compositions are loosely based on Indian and Persian miniatures, in which the integration of image and text are creatively juxtaposed rather than presented as completely separate images.
