Ocean Life
Series of Archival Digital Prints combining hand drawing and photographic material from Antarctica and the North Atlantic, as well as microscopic captures of plankton from Narragansett Bay.
The imagery is expanded and explained with Augmented Reality, showing the ocean life in a representational video, the isolated original drawings, and imagery of the oceans where they live.
The works are collaborations between digital artist Cynthia Beth Rubin and Oceanographers in the Menden-Deuer lab at the University of Rhode Island, who gathered the raw imagery from oceans near and far.
